Hi!

Kinda new to security camera stuff and wanted to know if someone could share their experience with outdoor cameras.
I live in a place where there can be both heavy rain and also heavy snow in the winter. Are IP66 rated cameras durable enough in the long term or would it be preferable to look for ones that have the IP67 rating?

Thanks for any answers!

This is from memory. (from phone specs)

IP66: no submersion rating
IP67 can be submerged in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes
IP68 can be submerged in 3 meters of water for 30 minutes

Lower IP number = lesser protection.

Either way, IP66 or IP67 is plenty for what they are subject to, IMHO.

Edit. Higher number = stronger protection

If not submersed, IP66 will be suitable for most applications, including rain and snow.

Thanks for the answer, just wanted to know if maybe someone has had long term experience with this, but it looks like IP66 should do just fine. The price difference isn't that significant from what I've seen in cameras that are otherwise the same spec but saving a buck won't hurt if the more expensive product would be overbuilt for what I need.
