Hey all, I have 2 4K-X Cameras, the first I won on Andy's Lottery a while ago(Thanks Andy) and the second I just bought in this lottery. I'm using them on Synology Surveillance Station under Generic Dahua. Everything works except I can only pick a max of 8192 on the bitrate. When I only had one I thought it might be a camera problem, but now that I have two they are both the same. I can enter a higher number and it looks like it saves, but then SS just switches it back to 8192.

On this sale I also got a T180 and I was able to select a bitrate higher than 8192. (Stop having sales Andy:)) so SS will accept higher values.

What I think the problem is, SS will only accept bitrates that are in the drop down list of the camera. The 4K-X only has 3 choices, 4096, 6144 and 8192. If you choose Custom, SS just rejects it.

Anyone know a way around this? Any chance Andy could get a new Firmware with higher bitrates in the list?

Thanks
Kevin

Use Internet explorer to make settings. I had this issue for quite a while. It now remains on 16,832 but randomly reverted for quite a while.

With mine setup as Generic_DAHUA in SS, setting the bit rate to anything over 7680 gets clipped, which is the max reference rate in the web UI.

6144 is the highest rate in my web UI dropdown.

Just now I set the bit rate to 10,000 in the web UI and watched the real-time bit rate jump up to ~10k. The SS UI still reports the setting at 7680.

The reported real-time frame rate is low though.

Setting bit rate back to 7680 drops the frame rate lower. A-B-A testing shows 9fps for bit rate set to >7680, otherwise 8fps.

20,000 Kbps and still at 9fps

I have no idea what's up with the frame rate.

As of this morning, having changed nothing and with the bit rate still at 7680 Kbps, the frame rate is at ~15 fps.

I have manually set the bit rate to 10240 separately in both the SS and web UIs and now both the reported frame & bit rates are unstable, bouncing between two values every ~2 seconds:

I think I'll just leave the bit rate at 7680.

Try the I frame interval set to 15 fps instead of default of 30fps. I think chrome has less issues on web ui for my cams vs IE.
This made a big difference in stability. (Thanks! I hope all of this helps the OP)

Applying all changes via SS UI, it is now very stable. (Showing web UI screen shot)

The SS UI still clips the bit rate setting to 8192.
Manually setting in web UI to 10240 produces the same instability noted above.

Explorer is still there and there are ways to get Explorer again.

The simple way is to change the BHO folder to another name like oldBHO and BAM Explorer is back...and this thread also shows other ways...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\110.0.1512.48\

Then change BHO to oldBHO or something else and Explorer will open

Just playing around and I might have got it. In the Camera GUI (I used Chrome) I changed the bitrate to 16384 and it accepted it. The camera info on SS shows around that bitrate. In the settings the bitrate is still showing 8192. If you try and change it to match it just switches it back 8192.

So I think the fix is to change it in the Camera GUI and just leave SS at 8192.
