IPC-Color4M-TL IVS birds and foxes detected as humas.

Hi all,

I've recently upgraded some of my older TIOC 1 cameras to IPC-Color4M-T TIOC 3 models. I'm now getting a lot of birds, foxes and other animals being detected as humans when only using ivs (smd disabled). It's the first time I've setup dahua cameras that use web 5.0 so not sure if I'm missing a setting somewhere or if this is the expected behaviour. This never happened when using ivs on the TIOC 1 cameras (HFW3249T1P-AS-PV) which were in the same locations. I've tried with both AcuPick enabled and disable and still get false detections, but it does seem to be worse with AcuPick disabled. It's happening on multiple cameras and I'm currently running firmware System Version 3.140.0000000.10.RBuild Date: 2025-02-26.

Here is an example video:

Any help or advise would be much appreciated.

I can’t recall, does that camera have VMD?

Are you recording to an NVR? Are you sure the NVR doesn’t have an Animal filter enabled ?

Often VMD is enabled by default and should be disabled on the smart plan if IVS is the intended trigger mechanism

VMD will pickup most anything that moves within the filter parameters and can’t differentiate between a bird and a cat

Use the minimum target to draw a box larger than an animal but smaller than a human

I was considering this, the only small issues is that some of the birds have been triggered while flying close to the cameras so for these instances a min box will not help. I'm guessing this will at least cut down on 95% of false triggers.

Sens to 10.

Wouldn't this increase my false alerts?

As steve mention no VMD

no, TIOC-PRO don't have VMD...

basic IVS plus basic AcuPick 1.0 (no VMD descriptions)...

there should be firmware upgrade to TIOC-PRO with long distance mode (large AI models) for IVS in some future...

That's good to know. Do you have any idea why I didn't have this issue on my older TOIC 1 cameras? Have dahua changed something on this newer line of cameras? Is this the expected behaviour or is it possible the firmware has issues? I was expecting better from the human detection and genuinely shocked that these cameras are picking up birds as humans.

different firmware..
you have option to select minimum size for object in IVS configuration - use it.
Draw area bigger than animal, smaller that human..

Thanks, yes I'm going to setup this option now.

Could I ask you a questions regarding AcuPick and if it has any impact on human detection. I don't have use for AcuPick in regards to it's search capabilities but wanted to know if having enabled does indeed help with human detection. I ask because from my testing I seem to get more false human triggers when AcuPick is disabled. I'm not sure if this is just a coincidence or if AcuPick helps.

In my testing (mostly on 5442) AcuPick 2.0 increases a lot false positives - but not for IVS, but for Video Meta Data.
You don't have AcuPick 2.0 / Video Meta Data - so it should not be a problem.

Use what works best for you.
