Sorry, to make this one of my introductory posts:
Just got some new equipment...and I am trying to figure what I might be missing..I did search the threads
on 192.168.1.108, Asus, V7, POE...and so on....Read the Dahua manual that came with the camera....

I purchased a v7 PEGS16 POE
Asus Router (Asus RT-AC68u)
OptiPlex 7050 win10 pro SFF...
IPC-HDW5231RP-Z
Norton 360 (disabled firewall), from xfinity

I have the following

COMPUTER plugged into the ASUS router port 1
POE (tried all 16 ports) plugged into the dahua (IR glowing red when in no light (assume its getting enough power)
POE plugged back in to the ASUS router port 2

Will upload pictures in a few minutes...

So I tried the Dahua configtool, and it could not find the camera, tried web, and it could not find the camera, ( I have tried multiple cameras)

What am I missing here ? (Tried multiple cables and tested them via cable tester, and all passed)...

I am learning, just need some guidance...thanks

Set on your pc a fixed ip address like 192.168.1.10 255.255.255.0, then you should be able to access the camera @192.168.1.108. Set, on the camera, a fixed ip address like 192.168.50.X (which seems your network space), or set the camera for use DHCP, revert back your pc to dhcp mode, the camera should then be reacheable in your network.
Cheers,
jonatha

Try to detect it using Smart PSS. Config Tool didn't work for me on the last camera I bought but Smart PSS was able to detect it without the need to change the computer's IP.
