IPC-HFW8232E-Z Sensor Type?

HFW8232 uses an old but bigger Exmor (should be IMX185)
HFW8231 uses an new but smaller Exmor-R (should be IMX290)
HFW8231 is Dahuas Ultra-WDR cam (140db) could be sonys DOL-WDR-function of the IMX290.

Interesting. So which should deliver best low light performance? I would imagine Exmor R. But the larger aperture of the 8232 could also be helpful?

According to the tech spec the HFW8232 is little bit better, 0.002Lux vs. 0.005Lux.
But, please buy the new HFW8231, because I'm very interested in the DOL-WDR. ;)

the first one for this model will ship out this Thursday, 2 guys made the order days ago, not sure if they are on the IPCAMTALK.

the first order will ship to US this Thursday, hope some guys will show some good video and pics here, hope they can see this.

I have an IPC-HFW8231E-Z sitting in the garage now for a week. Should be mounting it at the entrance to our neighborhood this Friday. Will get some pics and some video over the weekend hopefully.

Today just know this camera now adding the heating function now, this can be a good function for the cold area. And this model now will have NTSC FIRMWARE.

Well got the IPC-HFW8231E-Z(I) installed yesterday and while I dont have video caps yet, here's a couple of beauty shots for now. Will get video uploaded in coming days but I can tell you it's awesome.

This is 8:25pm, sunset was 2 1/2 hours ago, looking east. So the light in the sky is from commercial area/Orlando. Mounted on a pole about 25 ft back from edge of cul-de-sac at 12ft high. This serves as our Overall cam at end of street. The old Axis 1MP that was doing that job became a secondary Tag cam.

Settings:
30FPS
Iframe 30
Bit rate 6MB
WDR on at 30%
DNR at 25%
Exposure Low Motion Blur 1/30
Pretty much everything else at default. Hope to continue tweeking in coming days
