I think 5442 LED cameras can work in full color mode even in the totally dark place.
I'm afraid you think wrong because almost all Dahua full color cameras use LED light. You think wrong. Get one and try it.

I'm looking at the HDW5442TM-AS and trying to compare it to the HDW5442T-ZE model. I'm having a hard time understanding the difference between the two. It looks like the T-ZE had a varifocal lens but I'm not sure if I get that model would I be giving up something I'm not seeing on the TM-AS model. Confusing....I'm using HFW2831T-ZAS-S2 also.
In dark time HFW2831T-ZAS-S2 is not good enough for me . I prefer another camera HDW5442TM-AS .
Bandwidth of HFW2831T-ZAS-S2 is about 560Kb/s
Bandwidth of HDW5442TM-AS is about 260Kb/s
But the second camera is better in dark time
Read the many reviews of both cameras posted here on this form.I'm looking at the HDW5442TM-AS and trying to compare it to the HDW5442T-ZE model. You maybe confusing IR LEDs with white light LEDs. Dahua has a few cams that use white light LEDs to enhance the picture much like some people use a flood light.I'm afraid you think wrong because almost all Dahua full color cameras use LED light.
I'm looking at the same cameras also and see the same models because I need to buy 3d camera.I'm looking at the HDW5442TM-AS and trying to compare it to the HDW5442T-ZE model. I meanI'm sure that HDW5442T-ZE is better then HDW5442TM-ASE because F1.8 vs F1.6
This is absolutely nothing to worry about. EOL does not mean it is not going to work. It just means that Dahua made a small change and added the 'E' on the model number and the HDW5442TM-AS is no longer being made.My HDW5442TM-AS is EOL
The main differnece is the ZE model is using motorized lens, so you can adjust it easily, but if you can calculate the view angle, use the IPC-T5442TM-AS is good to go.I'm looking at the HDW5442TM-AS and trying to compare it to the HDW5442T-ZE model. Are you using VBR for your bit rate? If so it changes based on light and motion. You cannot compare bit rates of two cameras set to VBR.I am still fairly new to this and I have a long way to go before I understand it all, but it seems strange to me that my 2MP 2231's have a bitrate of 190-200kB/s and my 4MP 5442 is only at about 245kB/s and that's after I upped the bit rate to 2000 from the default which I think was around 1500.
No, I use H.265 CBR for all my cameras. Are you using VBR for your bit rate? If so it changes based on light and motion. You cannot compare bit rates of two cameras set to VBR.
Is it possible to setup in 5442 minimal not fixed shutter speed for instance not more thatn 1/60 in the day , because if the wheather will be sunny then fixed 1/60 shutter speed lead to too light picture ?The shutter at 1/120 will give you the best possible chance of freezing motion. The gain and other settings can be adjusted to get a more viewable shot.
