IPC-T5442TM-AS - what focal lenght is recommended, 2.8mm or 3.6mm?

good tip, I'll try to ping it. The subnet - you're right, it should be zero at the end, my mistake.

But, in general, firefox and/or chromium under Linux should work?

EDIT/UPDATE: no, I cannot ping the cam. Hmm. Could the cam have a different IP address?

I'd take off the cover for the SD card, press and hold the reset button(it's really tiny so a toothpick might help) and hold it for about 30 seconds to force the camera to reset back to factory default. That should get the IP set at 192.168.1.108 for you.

Ok, my Windows laptop did the trick. I could connect into the camera and after initial setup could enjoy the live view (even though the picture was upside down).

Now all thats left is to dig into the 7.233.434 settings, understand all the different types of events and alarms, and try to make the cam record onto my NAS. :D

But already it is clear that choosing the 2.8mm lens was the right decison.
