IR filter issue?

Lets see your Exposure tab

Practically all of our cameras do this particularly with higher zoom values.

I believe its from using a range exposure and inherent iris control in the camera.
Close dark objects it tries to brighten, close light objects it tries to darken.
The pinkish tone may just be WDR or the colors in the scene and it trying to react.

Happens on my Z12, a 5442H ZHE, and my Z4

I wouldnt worry about it if it doesnt mess with your plate capture

Weird thing is, it's only the LPR West that does this. LPR East, does not and has never had this behavior. Both are the same B52IR-Z12E S3 cameras running the same FW and settings. No other cameras have the issue either.

Not every one of mine does it, but those that are zoomed in a bunch tend to. It also depends on the overall light at that moment.

It seems that when it does it randomly, when it tries to brighten the image to compensate, it seems the IR cut filter switches out during the increase in exposure.

IR filter is definitely kicking off briefly during the exposure increase when it happens. My machine vision cameras have the same pink color when running in color mode and the IR filter is switched out.

I don;t think it really is. I think its simply an automated iris/exposure/white balance change giving that hue.

I wouldn't worry about it

It is kind of a PITA, Personally something to test and I don't want to get into your perfect setup for LPR but I would try it and see if it helps.. On the 0 to 3 change to 0 to 2 and rather then trying to use +50 I would just for testing try +30 or 40 and gain -20 or -30..

So about what bigrefish was saying it happens on most all cameras as in his videos you can see some of same thing. Different because of where the light it being flashed back to the camera..

Why the red you are seeing? Normally the red of the sun is first to blow out and there is a filter over the lens in red/green. that is overlooked. I think that is the red you are seeing. It would be interesting to see what happens when a different color car went by the Black very reflective SUV blasted the camera with sun light and just happen to be at the right angle to pull the red off the filter over the lens..

Seeing the camera is easy to adjust I would at least try and see if that helps any. Also about another camera with same sensor and all settings the same. Unless it is getting same type of reflection back to the camera from cars and the zoom is same it would be hard to notice the red/pinkish color because it is again the Sensor layers that you could see if you were to take a lens off the sensor you will see a green and or pinkish color while looking at the sensor.. different angle different color as light passes

So you can see I took lens from a Samsung IP box camera to show pink and green filters over the sensor

Edit: lol I also noticed I keep saying Lens.. In a few places.. Lens mean Sensor. that is the red/green over the sensor and where I think you getting the flash from as a thing that happens or can happen in all cameras. Some more then others depending on how the scene changes happen and amount of light being reflected back.
