Is there something similar to OnVif device manager that support H.265 (onvif v.23 and up)

Hi,

I have a camera that supports H.265, however OnVif device manager doesn't support these streams so I can't alter settings on it or even view the stream using it.

Is there another program for doing this that supports the newer standard? OnVif device manager hasn't been updated in years unfortunately.
 
Can you set the cam to h264 via it's web interface at least? h.265 encoding may save some space on the network and disk,
but other than that has no benefits over h.264 . it does NOT produce a better image, unless you really are bandwidth limited
and must use more compression to squeeze a stream thru a smaller pipe...
 
I'm aware of this and that only OnVif version 2.6 and up properly supports H.265

The issue is that everyone recommends things like OnVif device manager, which literally hasn't been updated in years. I'm surprised there isn't a newer tool out for the job.

Even if someone had the know how, they could recompile ODM with the latest libraries (the source is there). I tried and just got lost.
 
ONVIF DM, even when it was not out of date, does little to fix recorder / VMS integrations that do not work. What recorder or VMS are you trying to connect it to?
 
None at present. Just using a media player to view the streams from the camera. I'm only able to configure H.264 streams and not H.265 which is why I started the thread.
 
What camera model are you working with?
 
Did you verify that those 'cheapo China cameras' are actually ONVIF conformant? See: Conformant Products - ONVIF If they are not, that is likely part of the problem and many 'cheapo cameras' are not actually ONVIF conformant.
 
IMO, it's weird that the only way you can configure this camera is through ONVIF. Other cameras usually have a web server built-in to the camera you can http:// to for accessing settings, or an app.
 
The web page on the device is just the crappy generic ActiveX player they all have for showing a live feed from the camera.
 
That sucks. The Dahua and Hikvision cameras I have also land on a live feed, but there are also tabs on that page to get to settings and stuff.
 
And even if there's no controls in web gui there's usually an app that come with the cams to configure them. Either on a CD or download from seller/manufacturer. I 've bought various cheap no name cams (don't tell f-man) and there's always some way to configure them...

Yeah, I've gone through a bunch of these cameras and they all have the same page. OnVif was the real saviour here as it allowed you to configure everything, just not h.255!

There's nothing on the cd except for the generic CMS software which doesn't have configuration options, and a firmware upload tool.
