Is this NVR selection satisfying? (Dahua or an alternative) ?

No hdmi involved as I’d have to take a photo of the console monitor. Those were screen grabs of the chrome browser.

Not sure why your firmware is so old. Why not update it?

Looks to be from July 2024, much newer than 18months.

I have latest firmware on 6xx-XI (V4.000.0000000.6.R.240721).
But as I told it is 18 months behind 5xxx-EI (feature wise - it's based on -EI firmware from Q2 2023)...

Many people here on the forum have 608-XI and all reported the same problem.
Lack of AcuPick over web, Lack of AcuPick 2.0, previous UI (from 2023), lack of support for latest 5xxx-S3 features (IVS learning database, animal support etc)...

Can You show me screen shot of You main screen (third time I ask for that)???

This one:

Screenshot 2024-11-26 at 09.55.20.png

Do You have AcuPick menu in AI Search (this one)?

Screenshot 2024-11-26 at 09.55.28.png

Can You show me how video player in any AI search looks like (this one)?

OK, I see You have version based on Q4 2023 or Q1 2024 firmware for -EI series...
With Acupick 1.0 over web, but without AcuPick 2.0 and other changes (almost 40 new features) and new UI which were released in July 2024 for -EI series...

You have latest firmware which were released a few days ago by Dahua..
Does AcuPick search icon were available in previous firmwares for Your NVR?

I attach list of the features added in this year in -EI series...
You can check what is missing in Your NVR...

Interesting. Looking at the Acupick 2.0 announcement page undefined - Dahua International they list NVR5-EI, NVR5-XI, NVR6-XI as having Acupick 2.0

Are you saying I have Acupick 1.0 over Web, but Acupick 2.0 on the console?

they lying :)
they didn't released any big upgrade with a new features for -XI in last 18 months..
only small releases with bug fixes / security patches (and empty release notes)..

You are lucky that 5xxx-XI was launched half a year later than 6xx-xi, so in the base firmware you already have AcuPick 1.0 over web interface. We don't have it in 6xx-xi..

For now any firmware development for -XI looks like abandoned..

With AcuPick 2.0 You will got icons of attributes in AI Search -> AcuPick:
Screenshot 2024-11-26 at 09.55.28.png

Off course AcuPick 2.0 = AcuPick 1.0 + Video Meta Data, so if You have AcuPick 2.0 cameras (for now only WizMind-S 5xxx-S3 and WizMind-X 7xxx-X, other supports only 1.0) You can search Video Meta Data results using old AI Search -> human / motor vehicle menus..

Roger. Thats how ive done it to date. I run 5442-S3's of different types.

Not trying to hijack but does anybody know if either of these NVR's will work with LPR?

If You have ANPR cams (dedicated one or WizMind-X 7xxx-X) then any NVR 5-series or up (5xxx-4ks2, 5xxx-EI, 5xxx-XI, 6xx-XI) can receive / search that data.

If You have only WizMind-S cams (5442-S3) then You can have partially (graphical plate snapshots) LPR received by any specified NVR (screen shots below) using FULL Video Meta Data mode with disabled AcuPick. You can't search plates by entering plate number.

If you want to add ANPR (with OCR'ed plates) to any cam, 5xxx-XI or 6xx-XI NVR's can do that.

this is 5442-Z4E (telephoto optics) in FULL Video Meta Data and 5xxx-EI NVR.
If you replace 5442 with 7442 cam or use -XI NVRs, then You will have OCR'ed plate number (and working search for plate numbers).

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. Do you know where to find the dahua part #'s compared to IPC-B54IR PN's.... I keep searching for the 5442- Z4E but search isn't helping...

I used this camera model... please remember this have Z4E telephoto optics - so they are like 2x-8x on smartphones (normal varifocal models -ZE/ZHE are like 0.5x -2x on smartphones). Z4E telephoto varifocal capture 15 to 45 degree horizontal Field of View - they are ideal to capture car plates at 5-20 meters... it can be used for wide angle (like 90 degrees) - for that is -ZE/-ZHE...

For OCR'ed plates You need this:

price difference is little more that 2x - and the main difference is that in case of 5442 don't do OCR of plate numbers and You can't search plates by number (only compare car plate image snapshots by eye).

If You have ANPR cams (dedicated one or WizMind-X 7xxx-X) then any NVR 5-series or up (5xxx-4ks2, 5xxx-EI, 5xxx-XI, 6xx-XI) can receive / search that data.

I have two of the Z4E cameras that reads plates but to get the data you just have to use playback and find it. What are the settings to get it to do the tags like you have above?

As I wrote this is Full video meta data.
Go to smart plan in camera, disable acupick and after reboot select video meta data. No more configuration needed.

Data received and displayed by any 5xxx NVR. In ai search you have options like human / faces / motor vehicle / non motor vehicle search

Note that @steve1225 is seeing European plates, which is like 50% cheating compared to US plates which are much harder. ;)

The 5442 Z4E doesnt read plates with OCR so they can't be searched via a database, it simply uses VMD to captured the vehicle and if you happen to have the camera positioned well, you can see the plate and visually identify them as in Steve's example.

Many of us do the same thing with 5241 Z12's and have for years. Like many I have dedicated cameras for LPR, the Z12 mostly. And while the ability for 5 series to "see" the plate is nice, I dont rely on it.

Note about plates using VMD and a 5 series NVR
As mentioned, IF you have the proper focus you MAY be able to visually ID a lot of plates during daytime. But at night, you'll be faced with the plates being blown out due to the far different setting requirements needed to capture plates at night. If you tune your nighttime settings to be able to see the plates, you wont be able to generally see anything else as everything but the plate will be almost black.

Yea that’s was what I was wondering. It doesn’t take but a second to go find something on playback. Just thought it may be easier to scroll through snap shots to find people or cars. I think I seen you can still run Meta Data for that though if you select the boxes in the screen after setting trip wire?

VMD can only be run separately from IVS, cant run both simultaneously.

But yeah, you can run the IVS AI search and get about the same thing for vehicle filter ;)

not the same - Full VMD internally do many shots, and even 5442-S3 internally do car plate OCR to find the best shot (sharp one with fully OCR'ed plate number).
Car snapshot and car plate snapshot can be taken from different video frames by Full VMD algorithm.

OCR result is not saved / exported to NVR (feature reserved for 7xxx-X and dedicated LPR cams), but in many situations Full VMD have much higher probability You take good plate snapshot that mini VMD (with AcuPick) or IVS.

Of course in case of IVS you can draw tripwire line where the car plates will have highest probability to have good picture.
everything depends of conditions.

What do you run on a camera that overlooks your front yard or driveway? IVS?

Yes, IVS for driveway, but I ALSO run VMD on a Z4 zoomed into the street
