This should be simple and should work right out of the box, but of course, it doesn't.

Simple setup: 2032 hooked to poe port on a tp-link 8 port. tp-link then plugged in to ethernet port on laptop. (win7)

Boot ivms and in device management, the camera shows here: (at bottom portion of window)

But even after 'adding' device, nothing shows except the ip and camera is not accessible.

Has to be something simple but it's beyond me. any help appreciated.

PS. Mods, it might be nice if ivms had it's own forum?

You need to change the cameras IP address/gateway to match your network.

You need SADP which you can find on Hikvisions website as well as a guide on how to use it. Also you may want to check out the IVMS manual located on Hikvision's website.

There are also a few guides on YouTube that show how to do it. Check out Nelly's Security YouTube channel.

Maybe your configuration is not whats expected... if your not using a router, then try a cross over cable between the laptop and the switch.

However it may of worked out of the box if you had a connected like this.

Camera.... switch....router
Laptop... router

Thanks. SADP reports same info that ivms picked up. Manual has been read a few times.

Router will not be part of the final setup as I wont be online. Final setup: Cam>Switch>NVR
 
I believe the 192.0.0.64 address is the default or transient address used by the camera for TFTP access and firmware recovery.
As has been said earlier - you need to assign a specific fixed address to the camera, that's valid on your network, in the range you've already used on IVMS. If you don't - only SADP or IVMS discovery will 'see' the camera.
You can very conveniently do this using SADP.

If you don't have a router with the usual DHCP service that issues IP addresses to devices like laptops, how have you set the laptop IP address and subnet mask and what values are these?
Off a network, with no DHCP or assigned fixed address, - Windows will use a self-administered address in the range 169.254.0.0/16 that will not connect to anything but other similar machines on the network.
