Today a guy was walking around, I noticed him right away and figured he was up to no good, as it turns out I was right. I was able to call 911 within 10 seconds of him entering my neighbors driveway. I also gave them a call, and they stated they saw him run out

He went up their driveway through their open driveway gate, and through their open back door and stole a handful of junk and then left. They ran when they saw me on the phone and said "Oh, there he is"

Full videos, watch the guy come down the driveway

I'm starting to think I need some cameras zoomed in on the sidewalk. It seems 99% of the time I'm catching people doing things to other people, not me

Then he turns around

Hangs out at the junk apartments for a second and enters my neighbors driveway

Here is me walking over there and seeing him leave

And the video I got of him running

He was at least 6'5, way too tall for a head shot on LPR!

What do we think, something zoomed in at a similar angle just slightly less zoom, and a bit higher

If the only thing I saw was the man from behind, I could have told the police that odds are he is a 13%-er.

I'm sorry! I've been bad.

Exactly why I purchased the 7x series cam. Have it zoomed in to the sidewalk grabbing face pics, and as a big bonus grabbing plate captures as well.
Also have a 5241 zoomed down the street, capturing face and plates down there as well.

I was thinking of grabbing one of those triple lens cams, but I don't think it will work for me. Instead I'm thinking of grabbing another 7x series cam and grabbing face/plates the other direction.

What is the model of the 7x cam?

A 5442-Z4 S3 will work almost as well, at 40-70 feet no problem. Add VMD and its a great setup

Yes, maybe just back off zoom a touch and a little higher

Yep, I have a 5241 doing pretty much the same thing. Plate and face captures during the day, plate at night. The 7 series camera is, to me, a bit better just because it's grabbing everything with the camera, and shows up on my NVR with the video data, etc..

After installing my original system (12x 2.8mm cams), I quickly realized that what goes on OUTSIDE my property is not only a precursor to what's going to happen ON my property....but it's also infinitely more interesting in terms of people watching!

One of these days, I'm going to get around to installing peephole cams on each side of my column that abuts the sidewalk. Only about 4' off the ground so I can get faces of everyone walking by including those with their heads down.

Yeah, my original goal was to cover everything on my property, but everything happens off!
