Jennov 8mp POE PTZ

I found other posts on use-ip.com complaining about this certificate issue after upgrading from firmware v4 to v5, so it's some new problem Hikvision is trying to create (although the other guy had a HIKVISION doorbell camera with this problem).

I'm the "other guy" that was "complaining". :)

I finally got the non-Hik EZ-Viz DB1C to connect to my M-series NVR... I noticed the latest M-series software asks user to input region after loading... that may be what changed.

I notice that the non-Hikvision device uses port 8443 instead of 8000? I don't know why... the other doorbell I have is Hikvision DS-HD2 (it's exactly the same as DB1C just Hikvision branded):

I think you should try the HIKVISION protocol with port 8443?

The Jennov camera has port 8000 specifically set for Hikvision, there is also a setting in the configuration for that. The issue seems to be with the certificate, just like you had. No idea what certificate is looking for. And btw, unchecking Verify Certificate does not help, just like you mentioned in the other forum.

Just an update. The Jennov camera can be added with Hikvision protocol even from the local PoE port. To do that, there are a couple of tricky steps.

1. Go in the camera configuration via web browser and enable "Use ONVIF on all subnet" (or something similar). This will enable the NVR to detect this camera as being an available device in the list. If you don't do this, there is no easy way to find which IP the camera has after being plugged to the PoE port.
2. Go to the NVR and choose the Device Access -> Device Configuration -> PoE settings, and uncheck that PoE port column for "Plug and Play". If you don't do this, the NVR will start to fight with the camera connected at that port thinking that it should be a Hikvision camera.
3. Now go up to Device Access -> Device -> Video Device. You camera should be listed in the List of Online Devices (at the bottom). This will show the IP of the camera but the available Onvif port is not 8000. You need to add the camera manually by clicking "+ Add" at the top of the page. Then pick you camera from the available ones, and the IP field will be populated. Change the protocol to Hikvision and the port to 8000. Then write the password of the camera in the field (I hope you did not keep the default 123456 password). Finally, make sure "Verify Certificate" is unchecked; I check and uncheck it to try to avoid any software bug. Then Save.
4. At this point, the NVR will try to connect to the camera and error out Certificate Not Found. If you just leave it be, it should give up and accept the camera in a few minutes. I don't know what game is Hikvision playing with these certificates, but it seems to give up.

I checked the playback timeline and the events when the camera detects humans (or maybe just motion?) are marked in red. This should be good because I can then search. The problem I have not resolved yet is how to do smart search. The NVR complains that the camera does not have Dual VCA enabled, but this NVR is complaining the same about my LaView cameras. So, I am not sure whether vehicle and human motion can be logged properly as VCA in the NVR for the Jennov camera, but we're getting there. I also use a crappy old HDD to test this new NVR, and I read somewhere that a bad HDD can mess up VCA recording. Beats me why the HDD compromises VCA but saves videos.

Hope it helps.

Next step: test the camera on a real scenario pointed out of the window where cars pass. Will see how it performs and if I can have that smart human/vehicle detection logged in the NVR.

BTW, this screenshot reminded me of a small detail. All the LaView/Hikvision cameras show status "Connected" while the Jennov camera shows simply as "Online" despite being on the Hikvision protocol. What that means? Who knows...
