Since you're on firmware 3.96, I would factory reset the nvr, push the latest firmware to the nvr, then factory reset it again and you should be golden.
Thanks for the tips. Got NVR version 4 , 4.40.15 running and Hik-Connect app running on my Android!
Next up is ditching the LaView firmware on my 11 cams. I am sure I will be back here for guidance! thanks again

Not sure this is true at all. LaView follows the ONVIF specification. As such Blue Iris and I am sure many other systems can run with these cameras.but these (LaView) cameras are proprietary
I managed to find correct firmware for my LV-N9508Q8E. It was a clone of Hikvision 7608ni-k2/8p NVR. So I connected a serial port from my Raspberry Pi 4 and reflashed firmware from the link below. Latest firmware updates from LaView site were not compatible, so my guess is there were several incompatible Hikvision models released by LaView under one name.
Main board in my NVR looks like below (and its firmware contains strings "HIKVISON K74 Platform Board" and "hisilicon,hi3536c". Hope it helps someone else.

I found a firmware for that camera , its the same like Hikvision DS-2CD1041-1Hi bsocko, thanks for getting back. My NVR is basically bricked at this point. I can't log in, there are like 15 usernames (idk why) with those ascii characters you talked about. I tried resetting the password using the app and using the password reset tool and it didn't work. I tried flashing firmware using this guide many times and it's not working. I took apart my cameras again to see if I can reset them and there is no reset button. It does have the four pin JST ZH header, but I don't have its firmware. These cameras say they are ONVIF in the specs, but I highly doubt it because there is no log in page when I connect to a computer. Now I have a bricked NVR and 9 IP cameras that are useless. I would have liked to at least use these cameras with Surveillance Station on my Synology NAS, but these cameras are proprietary. I don't know what to do. After this experience, I don't want to buy another NVR this time around because they are all proprietary junk with no support. They are unsafe to open to the internet, and it's a big scam.
Here will likely be the last firmware update for these units as Hikvision has EOL'ed the I series.
