For people running BI in a VM, how is the storage setup. Is it using samba or some other means?

My CPU is a Xeon E3-1275 v6 and it supports gpu acceleration. Can a VM make use of it?

Some people have had success passing through the integrated graphics to a VM using vmware esxi. But it is really hit-and-miss. You don't know if the drivers will load until you try it, and it is an unsupported configuration so if it doesn't work you're just completely on your own.

For storage, you might consider just installing a WD Purple or other surveillance-optimized drive into the VM server and map the entire drive directly to the Blue Iris VM.

Blue Iris can record to network drives if you need it to, but there are some complexities making that work with BI in service mode.
