Anyone have a suggestion on good lightening protection for computer equipment? I have had bad luck lately with lightening frying my DSL modems. I've used several types of surge protectors but none seem to work. Nothing else is damaged only the modems. Everything is properly grounded with additional ground rods added by the phone company. Both the phone and electric company can't find any problems with the wiring.

"Additional grounding rods"?
For utilities lightning protection to work, there should be one grounding rod, located directly below the power meter and connected to with the shortest possible heavy wire (AWG8, or better). All copper wires entering the house should do so at that location. If your copper telephone line and coaxial TV service enter the house at separate locations, have the providers rewire. Better yet, switch to FiOS, if available.
