Hi everyone,

I'm assuming that live view on Dahua NVRs are using the mainstream when a monitor is connected directly to the NVR? I use a 8 split screen tour for the 8 cameras I have and if I increase camera resolution, frame rates, etc, it maxes out decode ability and up to 4 cameras cannot be viewed so I change the split screen/tour to 4 cameras at a time instead.

Is there a way for the NVR to use the substream for live view to increase the number of splits on the screen?

Model is DHI-N VR4216-16P-4KS2

If I remember it right the nvr by default will use the substream when you use the 8 cameras split and will use the main stream for 1 camera or 4 cameras split, unless your cameras exceed the nvr capacity (your model only allows 2 cameras at 4k and 4 cameras at 4mpx when using a monitor connected to the nvr)
