Local DVR latency issues

I have a pc running BI on the same network as a Hikvision DVR. roughly 20 cameras in total, 14 are IP cameras, and those work without issue.

I've added the 6 cameras from the DVR via RTSP, but the latency is terrible and inconsistent. They are even losing signal completely at times.
Ping to the DVR is 1 - 2ms from the PC.
Both devices are on LAN into the same router.

It worked fine for quite some time and then started acting up recently, with no changes to any settings or hardware.

I've tried changing buffer size and FPS in BI but nothing seems to help.

Not sure where else to look?

Are any of the cams with latency issues have to go through the router to get to the DVR? If so, that could be the problem because the switch portion of many routers are not designed to handle that traffic.

Route POE CAMERAS to DVR POE ports and DVR LAN port to ROUTER LAN and/or POE CAMERAS to POE SWITCH, POE SWITCH to DVR LAN and POE SWITCH to ROUTER LAN......camera video stream does not pass thru router to get to DVR/NVR.

From your post it sounds like you might want to add in a Switch. Connect your cameras, DVR, BI computer all to the switch and see if that helps with the bottle neck you are having with your router connected devices. Routers are good for dhcp service and giving access to the internet for your local devices but they normally lack high quality ethernet connection support.. I would look at getting a 24port POE that supports some giga lan connections. LIke one of mine I use have 12 POE+ and 12 normal lan ports and I have no issues with all my connected devices and I have more then my fair share..

Your Ethernet cable from computer to router or your DVR to router are they premade? or did you make them? Can you try a different port on the router if you have one open and personally I would try a different cable as well. Only have 1 camera connected on Bi from one of my DVRs but it is connected over HTTP so can't say why rtsp connected devices are failing..
