Is there a way to look at the file system on a Hikvision NVR? I want to see the impact of changing things like frame rate and bit rate on the file size, but can't find any way to access the file info.

The file system in the HDDs in my 7816N-E2 NVR doesn't seem to follow any of the common Linux types.
When I last looked at it, I concluded that it was a proprietary arrangement, but I didn't look very closely.

Thanks for the info. I had the fantasy that they used the linux file system and there was some hidden way to look at file names, sizes, etc.

I'd have thought that too, and was disappointed that it doesn't seem to be the case.
