I bought a Lorex system, 4K Ultra HD IP NVR System with 4 8MP Motorized Varifocal Zoom Lens White Audio Dome Cameras, 250FT Night Vision 4KHDIP822NWW.

I have the NVR connected to a Samsung UHD Smart TV, model UN65JU7500FXZA, using the HDMI cable supplied with the Lorex kit.

I thought I would be able to view the cameras in 4K, but I can only go as high as 1080P. If I set the cameras to 4K, after reboot, the TV says there is no input on the HDMI port.

Also, at 1080, the video from the cameras appears grainy. I have tried adjusting the settings, but nothing improves.

probably defaults to FHD (1080i) for compatibility purposes.

from the manual:

To set the monitor resolution:
1. From the Main Menu, click
and then click Setting>Display>Display.
2. Under Resolution, select the correct resolution for your monitor.
3. Click OK to save changes. Click OK again to restart the system using the new
resolution.

if there is no option higher than 1080, then the console display is simply limited,
while the recordings and network streams may be at higher resolutions.
(welcome to NVR-limitation land..)

also, make sure your hdmi cable is rated for 4k. could be the hdmi handshake is limiting to FHD (1k) due to cable properties...

Fortunately, I figured it out, after hours of chats and phone calls.

I updated the TV firmware, and set the HDMI ports to UHD color.

I now have 4K video from the cameras.
