Novice question: Amcrest NV4108E NVR with 5 Amcrest cameras, working fine. Purchased one Lorex LNB8973BW camera as a test. Would like to use it to take motion-detected snapshots in highest resolution, 3840x2160.

But snapshots are in low resolution, 704x480. This setting matches the image size setting (screenshot 1).

Appears that snapshots are being taken from sub-stream 1 (screenshot 2)?

Searched for but cannot find an NVR setting that connects snapshots with main vs sub-stream. Contacted both Amcrest and Lorex support. (Not surprisingly, both claim the problem is with the other's hardware.)

Any advice appreciated!

Hi @swtrekker

Well, both are Dahua OEM .. so Dahua Software and hardware .. and of course typical customer support blaming each other.

How is the main stream from the Lorex camera?

( in the past people have had issues with the substream of Dahua OEM cameras on a Lorex Dahua OEM NVR .. just a question of configuring the settings correctly .. my guess you may have the same sort of issue here .. )

Thank you, mat200, I agree with you.

Yes, Dahua is selling the same camera technology through different brands. Aside, it's hard not to notice the similar SW user interface on Windows Amcrest Surveillance Pro and Lorex Cloud.

Also agree that there's probably a checkbox I missed.

Given the combination of mediocre documentation + finger-pointing vendors I've decided to return the Lorex while there's still time.

Thanks for your interest :)
