So my folks have a Lorex NVR LNR1180 system running 7 cameras. Yesterday 6 of the cameras went offline. The only camera that remained was his LNZ32P4B camera, all the other ones (lnb3163b - 3 of those , and pe133e - 3 of those) went offline.
Tried rebooting the system/modem, unplugging the system for a bit, and plugging back in. Still wouldnt pick them up, tried deleting the cameras and rescanning, wouldnt come up. On the lorex app, it shows the 1 camera functional, and all the others black screen, but has the names that we gave them still there. On the direct monitor, it says Cannot find the network host.
My dad called Lorex last night, the person on the phone said, those cameras dont work anymore, they havent in awhile you have to replace ALL of them, they arent supported. However all cameras were working earlier that day, as they have been for years.

Any thoughts? Would Lorex have sent a "disable" signal to the nvr to disable these cameras?

Hi @BryTib

when so many cameras get knocked out, I would want to know

Is the kit directly exposed to the internet?
Did you have a power surge? ( lightning for example )

No Storms, and the cameras go into a switch box, then into the modem, which they have been for a couple years. The person he spoke to last night was insisting that they dont work anymore for the system, and pushed getting him to upgrade. I told him to call again today and hopefully get another person that could figure it out.

So although the model number you gave indicates it's a POE NVR, all of the "cameras go into a switch box"...do you mean a POE switch that powers the cams and connects the cams to the NVR's LAN port?

I ask because the message you specified in your first post, "Cannot find the network host" implies the NVR is looking for the cams on its POE ports.

Yes sorry its running through a POE

We are slowly getting it going. Got 1 more camera going.. The ip addresses of the ones that arent working are different than the working ones, so going to attempt to redo those addresses tomorrow
If its "running through a POE switch", then all the cams should be assigned unique static IP's on the same subnet as the NVR's LAN but outside your router's DHCP pool.
Ideally, connect the NVR's LAN port to an uplink port or an unused port on the POE switch.

ya it should.. but for some strange reason, 6 out of 7, either the ip addresses changed back to the non-POE switch ip address and the 1 camera remained, then earlier today, either from my dad messing around, or unplugging things, a second one repopulated to a proper address, then when I was on the phone with him, I was getting him to unplug cameras from the POE switches, and a 3rd one repopulated to a proper address, but 4 others still seem to be stuck on an old ip address. Im going to go there tomorrow and play around. Easier if I am there in person, than trying to walk him through stuff over the phone

Cams plugged into the NVR's POE ports will be on the NVR's private server and will be on a different subnet that those plugged into the POE switch and LAN.
Only plug 1 cam at a time into the NVR and give it a couple of minutes to recognize the cam before plugging in another cam.....rinse and repeat.

The cams on the POE switch/LAN need to be static and as I outlined in my post above, #8.

The thing is, all these cameras have worked for years with this setup.. Just something funky happened yesterday. I will get it going hopefully tomorrow.. Thanks for the advice.

All sorted out. Took a bit of playing around, moving cables around, etc. Some kept resolving at outdated ips, others would resolve to a new one, but eventually got them running. Defintely think its a POE switch issue that its not grabbing proper ip addresses (some where grabbing direct modem lan addresses, instead of POE switch box lan addresses)
