Good day ever one. New member here. Just wanting to know what will be a good location to mount HFW5241E Z12E camera to capture licence plates for traffic coming from the right side in the image.

I am attaching an image from my reolink duo at night time.

Also are there any cheaper options available if i was to install camera inside/ behind letter box which is just 3-4 meters away from road.

I have tried to search on cameras installed in letter boxes but havent had great luck on installs.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you

If you’re only concerned with plates on vehicles moving right to left, anywhere on that corner of the house should be fine.
I’d aim it between that last tree to the left across the street and the next light pole

Orange is where I'd place the camera and red is where I'd put the camera towards.
Remember, this camera will only do one task, capture license plate. If you need an overview camera as well, add another camera.

Agree. That may be a little further than necessary but yes straight on is great if you have enough zoom. You have +/- 20ft of roadway there in that area to play with and some ambient light to help

One of mine is about a 35-40 degree angle at 110-120 ft in shade off and on during the day and does quite well

thanks for that mate :) I would like to know if I could do right side in that image. So in the image for incoming cars from right side of my driveway. Similar pictures as you have provided in your setup.

Also are there cheaper cams that I could put in letter box (front right of the pic), it's a lot closer to road. I could put 2 to cover both sides of road.

The big red circle is the side I want to capture. Purple for is where letter box is. 4-5 meters away from main road

The 54IR-ZE works well on a mailbox if the distance to where the plate would be is under 30ish feet.

It would be questionable if it would work at the distance you are looking at. The next cheapest is the Z12E or Z4E based on distance.

And you’d need to cut down that tree

I’d do the Z4 on that location to be sure.

Angle is the thing, once you get to 35 degrees or so it starts getting lots harder

Daytime image and exact angle would be helpful

No argument there, I would likely put twp Z12's there and cover both directions from that same spot

Thank you very much.
Attaching the day time image of street.

Instead of Z12, would you try

Asking as the price is similar for Z12 and 5442.

As @wittaj said above. No, not enough zoom

What is the distance to the red and green marks? I'm leaning towards two Z12's

And I still think that tree on the right needs to meet a mysterious demise

guys what if I mount the camer on this edge and it is higher than the rest of the house. Might be able to skip the tree all together and zoom at the road ?

last pic is where can see the house from the road post tree.

i cant chop tree, its council's land

Distance from this edge of the house to the spot post tree is around 24-25 meters

Until the tree dies an untimely and mysterious death, I think you’ll be fine using a capture point just beyond it.

While some here have captured plates at crazy distances, if you want reliable captures in the 95%+ range, I’ve found the Z12 to be good at 120-150 ft

Trees grow, up and out…

It’s almost Halloween, teens do weird things. It’s amazing how much a couple energized teens or a 2000s ricer can accomplish.

Especially if nobody has cameras yet.

And a good neighbour like you just happened to have some leftover sod and dirt laying around to patch to hole. Or cover the trunk cut off flush to ground.

Everything back to “Bristol fashion” before 10am.

You can always convince the replanting crew, if one arrives, to move it’s location a bit. Cash or bottle of good booze works wonders.
