Mailbox or curbside camera?

Really if you're going to go with the mailbox location, you dont need anything too exotic. You'll be more or less straight on at 20-30ft. A regular 5231E-ZE should work fine....
I am hopeful that even cheaper cameras might work, but first I will need to construct a protected mailbox location, and for that job I will need some warmer weather.

It looks like you have some large trees at the street near your driveway. If they are large enough and trimmed up enough you could mount the camera(s) about 7 or eight feet off the ground for a straight shot down the road. I'd like to see a picture taken of those trees to get a better idea if this is plausible.

The only protected location I can think of with a optimal view and minimal angle would be to build a new brick base for the mailbox. This might position the camera a foot off the ground and only a foot or two from the edge of the street.
