Migrating cameras from old NVR to new NVR while maintaining camera settings

Onboard POE switch failed on ds-7716ni-e4-16P - no lights or activity on any of the POE ports. Cameras are ok

Cameras:
DS-2CD2024WD-I and DS-2CD2142FWD-I
NVR:
DS-7716NI-K4/16P

I purchased a DS-7716NI-K4/16P to replace the ds-7716ni-e4-16P.
Any known issues going to the latest firmware ( V4.71.005 build220524) on the DS-7716NI-K4/16P?

I have a few questions regarding getting the cameras setup / moved over to the new NVR properly ideally without losing any existing camera settings

I know the old NVR admin username and pw - it is still accessible via console and web interface - and I believe I know the individual camera admin passwords as well.
I can't, however, see any of the cameras or the camera settings from the old NVR because of the dead onboard POE switch.
Is it just as simple as updating the "Camera Admin" password on the new NVR and then reconnecting all of the cameras to the new NVR or is there more to it?
I'm assuming the cameras are linked to the OLD NVR in some way? What is the process for unlinking them and relinking them to the new NVR?

Keeping in mind the fact that I can't access the cameras via the OLD NVR interface or POE ports, is there a way for me to backup camera settings or prevent them from being lost?

Are the camera settings stored on the cameras themselves and/or the old NVR?
I didn't document the settings for each camera and don't really want to set them all back up if it can be avoided. Ideally I just want to swap the hard drives, plug in the cameras and go.

Please advise on the best way to accomplish this task.

Settings are stored on cameras and main board flash memory. HDD is just for footage. If you make sure your PW and username are the same as well as network topography you should be fine to plug and play. As far as transferring settings, 50/50 if the models are close enough.

Before you throw this (admittedly quite old) NVR in the bin - just be aware that you can reconfigure the NVR channels to Manual mode and point the channel IP addresses to cameras on the LAN instead of the PoE ports, for example cameras on an external PoE switch.
Maybe you know someone who could use it that way as a freebee.
