Mini 0806 questions

I got the new mini 0806 today and have a few questions about it. Do I absolutely need to buy the optional parking mounting base to use parking mode? Or can I just use the hard wire kit and turn on parking mode?

also I connected via USB to my computer and it seems to be stuck on "USB connecting". All the other functions seem to work though.

is the CPL lens cover worth it?

I use the CPL filter with my Mini 0806. It almost eliminates glare. I think it's worth it.

I don't connect the camera to my computer, nor am I interested in parking mode, so I can't address those issues.
