Mini-Review - 5842-Z4E-S3 AKA B58IR-Z4E S3 - Replacement to the 5842-Z4E (8MP on the 1/1.8" sensor)

So, if I want smallish animal detection at night, the 4 mp won't trigger, but the 8 will. (using cam gui settings)
what about using Blue Iris motion detection settings ?

my 5442t ze needs a replacement.. (this cam caught animals) coons, bobacats, possums,

Hello, Well, it depends on how you configure the motion detection on BI: Setting it very sensitively (small objects) and configuring the AI plugin libraries for cat, dog, etc., you could trigger detections of small animals.

Wow. Really is a lot more difference than the figures suggest. I'm guessing they were measured under different conditions.

For what it's worth I've fed back some issues with the 4Kt's to Dahua & suggested they look at producing a new camera with a larger sensor again at a reasonable price with these changes. It probably won't happen as I'm totally insignificant to them, but you never know. If you don't ask, you don't get.
