motion detection: delete squares without delete all possible?

Using the motion detection in normal mode (not expert) one can draw squares by dragging the mouse.

Is there a way to delete certain squares without using the delete all button?

Click on each square individually,or click and drag the cursor over the squares you want to remove

That does not work for me.

The only way I can get rid of a square is to delete them all.
I have set up a detection grid, click on define area (or whatever the english translation is - my cam is german), click on a square already set - it does not disappear, nor with dragging.

cam is a 2cd2142fwd, firmware is 5.5.0.

Do you need to hold some modifier key like ctrl or shift?

I tried, does not work.
The only thing is double click to layer the whole picture with motion detection.

Sorry my fault,i should have said that you do the procedure on the NVR,not the camera web gui

Well, my Cam is connected to a Synology NVR1218. Do you mean I should set it on the Synology?

I do not do that. I do the motion detection setting on the camera and Synology Surveillance station is solely used for recording.
