As long as you don't mind finding a decent blank cover and drilling it out to match the mounting holes, that should work fine. That also assumes the camera is the same diameter, or smaller than, the box.

Shoot, ok. That's what I thought. Gonna order the dahua one. I see the mount plate and how it has tons of holes for mounting.

In a quick fix...I just use a Home Depot blank plate, drill some pilot holes through bottom of camera base plate, and use Tek hex head self tapping screws.
But I'd prefer to use the real Dahua base plates when possible.
PS: I hate plastic stuff outside :) I like metal.

Agreed, that's why I ordered the real thing. Didn't but a 200$ camera to Jimmy the install
