I am looking at moving from my VM to a physical system. I would run blue iris, AI Tool on this box. I have 4 4k cams (runs at 1080p) and 2 1080p cams. I plan to add more up to 10 cams. I used Choosing Hardware for Blue Iris and Newbie Starter Guide to IP Cam System – VPN setup – Computer Hardware – Blue Iris – Dahua Cameras to decide on a I7-8700 with 16gb ram and SSD/with a 4 tb drive.

1. does that seem like the right cpu
2. what is an i7 vpro 8th gen vis non vpro. thanks

With the use of hardware acceleration and the Use of substreams. It should work without a problem. Look at the MP processing on similar CPUs. use data that has been collect in the last two months as this is when sub streams started to be used.

My BI PC is an i7-8700 with 32 GB ram (2x16 GB sticks), OS and BI DB on an Intel M.2 760p drive. I have 23 cams, most are 2MP but a few 4MP and 12 are using the D1 sub-stream in BI. I have those cams spread out over three 10TB WD purple drives recording 24/7. I have an Nvidia graphics card (EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti) driving the single monitor and being used for HA on 18 of those cams. I use Intel for HA on the other five. CPU runs at about 25%, memory at about 32%, and the GPU at about 37%.
