I followed the remote access wizard, and then tried connecting but it didnt go through. i have a belkin router and a netgear switch between my internet connection(exede).

Welcome to the forum...change the port to something higher than 81...like 8585...then port forward that port...if you want a very secure connection consider setting up a vpn..
test the open port with canyouseeme.org
