Philippines
Hello to all board members.

I live in the Philippines and have limited access to resources or expertise.

My Duhua (model HFW1239TLM-LED) camera was recently moved into another housing and the focus expanded to cover more viewing area. Now the camera gets hung up in the IR mode as the sun sets and outdoor lighting is turned on. The display faintly shows 3 rings of LED lights and is fuzzy. If you reset power the camera, the camera goes back to daytime mode and is quite good. As possible fixes the camera was moved to the very front of the housing and the glass was removed.

To me, the simplest fix would be to disable the IR mode. I have been told that this can't be done (the camera is not on a network). Can the IR mode be disabled on this camera? Could a lens be removed or a wire unsoldered possibly. Have run out of ideas. I have attached two pics that might help someone. The first one shows the LED light rings that I spoke of---the LEDS were on when I checked them. The second pic shows the same camera just a few minutes later in the daytime mode---note the grass strip along the sidewalk.

If this camera simply won't work with the amount of ambient light present does anyone have a recommendation of one that will? Any help will be appreciated.

To me, it looks like the IR light bounces back into the camera. Try moving it in another direction.

For security reasons the camera has to be positioned as it is now. The ambient light in the background cannot be changed. The camera has the typical ring of LEDs as is the norm with these cameras despite what the internet pics might suggest. I couldn't find a current pic perhaps because the camera is several yrs old.

Two options as I see it---disable the IR or replace the camera with one that will work in these conditions. Working through this is what I need help with.

If you need IR turn the camera IR off and if it clears up the image, try installing a separate IR illuminator and mount it away from the camera.

How do you turn off the camera IR is what I'm asking.

IMO, there is plenty of ambient light for the camera to work in the daytime mode so there is no need for an IR illuminator. BTW this isn't a network camera.

Try accessing the camera's internal settings. Most Dahuas have a default address of 192.168.1.108. If you don't know how to find the camera, let us know and we'll walk you through the process of finding the camera on your network and accessing it.

Once you're into its interface, you'll find video settings, which, if the camera has illumination, will let you schedule the turn- on and turn-off times, or to simply not use the IR. I did that with some of my cameras where the lights reflected inside the dome, and there was enough ambient light that the camera worked without using its built-in IR.

The camera is not on an network so the default gateway address that you gave me won't work. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

One site suggests that there might be a camera pigtail that can be used to change the cameras internal settings. Is anyone familiar with this?

What sort of wires come out of it? I was working with some sdi format cameras that had a bnc connector that would connect to an analog testing monitor, and they had a little mini joystick button. You'd attach the monitor, click the joystick button, and a settings menu would pop up.

Here's the testing monitor and the joystick interface I'm talking about. These should be available on the usual places pretty readily

That camera model is an analog full color camera so it does not have infrared but rather white LED.

Again the camera is not an IP camera. No antenna----just a power cable and a video cable--that's it. The connectors resemble the ones in my attached pic.

Despite what you have seen on the internet (I saw it also) it uses red LEDs for its lighting. Plainly obvious if you view the camera at night.

In Asia things aren't always the same as the rest of the world. Models are different, configs are different---that is just the way it is.

This is a pic of a camera pigtail that I found on the internet. Can find nothing else about it or if it will work. Don't know if the camera is SDI format---would guess probably not. Thanks to everyone for trying to help.

I didn't say it was an IP camera, I said it is analog and your picture proves that...

As someone else said, you will need to see the video image and then push that button around until you find the setting. It may or may not. You may have to do the old fashioned thing and put tape over them lol

What button do I need to push around ????? I have no buttons to push-----------please advise.

The pigtail pic that I posted was a generic one that I found on the internet----certainly not one that I possess. Was just asking if it might work in this case.

I asked if it was an IP camera. My message overlapped the others. Sorry.

No special magic to SDI, which is digital, but the SDI cameras have an analog output for testing on a monitor such as the one I pictured, so the test procedure is the same as your cameras. Your cameras will have analog outputs of some sort. You have to figure out what adapters you need, but you should be able to get your camera to display on a monitor or a tv.

Once you see the camera's output, click the button on the pigtail and you should get a menu. Navigate around the menu with the joystick function of the button, and click the button to make your selections. Somewhere in the menu setup you'll see controls for the day / night switching and the illumination. At that point, you can adjust things so they work best for you.

Hope that helps, and sorry for the initial confusion. I assumed you were talking about a network camera.

You can buy those pigtails on ebay, ali express, etc. Look in the description and photos for one that connects to your camera. Give us a photo of what's coming out of your camera, and I might be able to help more

Here's a couple of photos showing the pigtail connections on the back of one of the sdi cameras. You may have very similar connections. Second photo is the plugs. Red is 12v, yellow is analog used for testing/setup, and the third is the main digital signal.
