Need help with Dahua security camera

Thanks Gimmons for the pics. Will look into it.

The easiest way to disable the IR perhaps is to open the camera and disconnect the connector (if possible) to the IR ring. Is anyone familiar with doing this?

Yes. There is likely to be a little wire pair and plug attached to the led assembly. If you pull it, the illumination will be disabled. On the board cameras I use there is an analogous assembly powering the IR cut filter.

Follow up question.

If I were to find a pigtail to connect to my camera, would I have to download an app to make this work?

Since my camera wasn't designed to be on a network, would it have firmware sophisticated enough to allow someone to make changes to the camera settings? Or to put it another way---would the camera have settings that could be changed? Just wondering.

Your guess is as good as ours. Since you said this camera doesn't match the model number you provided, it is anyone's guess.

Some of these cameras with the button on the pigtail will have a screen pop up that you can make changes to the cameras, but many of them do not.

But the settings screen works by connecting the camera to a TV or monitor directory or thru a DVR and it pops up on the screen. I doubt you will have the ability to make changes over a phone app.

No, the camera should have it built in. If you send us a photo of your camera board, I'll compare it to mine. I kind of suspect the pigtails are a standard item that the camera board makers design around, but I'll be happy to compare. I bought the board cameras I have on ebay from Chinese sellers, who were easy to deal with.

Search 'board camera pigtail' and you'll get a million hits on ebay. Tell the seller what you have and send him a photo. Compare their photos to the pinouts on your board.

I meant to point out that the data sheet lists a programmer, which should work with the OP's variant of the camera. There is an online manual for the programmer, and an abundance of videos for both the programmer and the camera on YouTube.

It looks like there's a pretty full-featured interface through the dvr, so he may not need the programmer.

Tech guy came by today and it didn't go well.

The IR ring connector was disconnected and the camera display turned black and white and was fuzzy. Replaced the camera connector and it went back to daytime mode and clear.

Looked at possibly disconnecting the IR ring plug and jumping out the 3 pins out with resistance that equaled that of the IR ring. Wont work as it appears the 3 pins carry +12 VDC, -12VDC, and a return.

Looking at the programmer angle now. Tech has never heard of it so this doesn't look promising.

I'm at the limit of helpfulness, I think. There was a YT video showing how to adjust audio for you camera via the dvr. It looked like there was a decent interface. I noticed a lot og tagalog-language videos, so that camera must have been popular in the Philippines. Perhaps if you or the IT guy are tagalog speakers, something there may have particular relevance.

The only other thing that comes to mind is trying a separate illuminator.

I can imagine. Here's the audio setup video I mentioned.

It shows screen by screen how to get to the menus in the dvr. That should be some help.

My cameras all connect to a HCVR which if I understand things correctly doesn't have the ability to connect to the internet.

But it probably has a way to bring up a menu on the monitor. Search the recorder's product number on Dahua's website and on YouTube. You may get a manual from Dahua and tutorials from YT.

The HCVR does has menus that can be brought up but they seem to be for making adjustments to each HCVR channel and not each camera. See for yourself.

Those look like camera settings, but I don't see anything for your illumination. It may be there's no control in your interface for the IR.

If so, your only option might be to disable the lights in the camera and add external illumination, either IR or visible.
