This is my first experience with IP cameras and i need some help.

Goal - Keep cameras separate from local network traffic and the internet, Have all recordings saved through blueiris on a remote server.

Question, if i hook all my cameras up to a switch that is directly connected to a local server through a separate NIC, will i still be able to static assign ips to the different cameras? and still be able to remotely view them through the blueiris webserver?

I dont want to have all my cameras hard wired to a router, but im wondering how much extra work that will make for me.

Attached is a diagram of how my current network is set up.

Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

yes, just put it on a different subnet and it'll work.. for example

LAN: 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 GW: Router IP
IOT: 192.168.2.0/255.255.255.0 GW: None

any interfaces on the IOT network will be able to communicate, including your BI server because it's dual homed.. only it will be capable of talking to both networks.

You'll want to run a Network TimeServer on your BI Machine so your cameras and other devices can sync w/internet time.. and perhaps a mail relay if you want any of the devices to be able to email on there own.
