Here locally they also want you to change to smart meters.
Once everyone has them we might get variable pricing.

The real electricity price is between 0 and 4 cents, but we pay like 19-21 cents (per kWh) (base price electricity, network cost and tax)

We have the option to choose from a number of metering schemes some with variable pricing and some with fixed pricing. For a lot of people the fixed option is cheaper.

Well here (Netherlands, Europe) they government is changing plans and taxation all the time.
We used to have 'salderen' where you could get each kwh you upload in the grid back 1:1 later (so the electricity net works as a large battery)
Now that will have to change to a feed-in tariff or a reward for each kWh uploaded.
Next to that the CO2 discussion, so they propose to add 20 cents tax to each m3 of gas (65 cent per m3 now) and lower the tax on electricity with 7.5 cents per kWh (price is 19-21 cents per kWh now)
The price is 4 cent fixed price of electricity, network cost and tax.

So overyone has to move to heatpumps
