This is a bit complicated to explain but I will do my best. My router that my NVR is connected to has an IP address of 192.168.1.1. The NVR has an IP of 192.168.1.129. I could not get any of my cameras to connect on the NVR at 192.168.1.xxx, but the all are up and running at 192.168.254.xxx. I chose the "254" addresses because that is what was already loaded in the NVR, and is working.

My problem is I have newer 2142 cams, and need to set the HDR option to ON, but can only set the HDR option via connecting directly to the camera via web interface (can't set HDR via NVR or web interface to NVR). But I can't connect to a 192.168.254.xxx address from my PC, I'm assuming because I'm on the subnet of 192.168.1.xxx.

The cameras just don't connect to the NVR when I assign an IP of 192.168.1.xxx. Why not? What settings do I need to modify to assign the subnet of 1 instead of 254 and have the cameras connect to the NVR?

Thanks for any help!

Thanks, when you say try subnet 255.255.0.0, do you mean at the NVR or at the router? The only connection SADP picks up is the NVR, which is @ 192.168.1.129. It won't pick up the cams at 192.168.254.xxx. I also can't access them through a browser

Thanks for the tip. I found another thread with a solution. Ran an ethernet cable from my router to a poe port on NVR. Changed IP and Subnet of computer to match POE ip/subnet. Ran ethernet from computer to router. Then I could connect to each camera @ 192.168.254.xxx
