Can someone with experience help comment? thanks.
The 4mp system has been on sale at costco for 1299 as well. It includes 4 less cameras.
In terms of pixels per inch 4mp offers very little over 3mp...but thats not the whole story...the 4mp may have other improvements over the 3mp...they are both rebranded dahua systems.

I got the Costco system on sale back in July 2015 when it included the QC8816 NVR and 8 4MP cameras which I like a lot.
This new sale is a good deal but it is different.

This upcoming sale includes the QC8916 NVR and 12 3MP cams which have different specs so check them out carefully.
For example the QC8816 NVR can handle up to 4 6TB hard drives for a total recording space of 24TB. The QC8916 NVR is up to 12TB.
I also noticed different specs for recording capabilities (Not display) on the QC8916 NVR. Costco shows 3MP and Q-See specs show up to 4K. Something to check on..
The 8816 has 3 USB ports(1 front / 2 back) and the 8916 has two. (1 front / 1 back). The mouse uses up the back one but I like the extra one in back on the 8816 to connect to a separate USB HD for quick backups. Not a big thing but just convenience.

Most of the time around a house you might need cams with different focal lengths. With this system you are stuck with 12 cameras with 3.6mm lenses. I got stuck with 8 but sold 2 and ordered 2 Dahua IPC-HDBW2300R-Z cameras that fenderman had suggested.
The cameras are good but you might want to get some different lenses for different parts of the yard or a front door. I don't think you can change the lens without a lot of surgery on these. If you can then maybe someone here can help.

Nothing wrong with that system but I'm just saying check the specs out. :)

why none of these cameras have microphone built in/?? or at least there some which have built it microphone...? It would be nice feature to have to record both audio and video inside the house and sometimes possibly outside...

Most ip cameras dont have mics built in.....There are a select few that do...many have connections for external mics..these dont.

Are all these NVR capable to record both audio and video just over ethernet cable.

Will this one work with Q-see NVR --- Dahua 3 megapixel ip camera full HD mini dome camera IPC-HDBW4300E mini ip camera with microphone

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Dahua-3-megapixel-ip-camera-full-HD-mini-dome-camera-IPC-HDBW4300E-mini-ip-camera-with/2001976571.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.20.WZcNua&ws_ab_test=201407_5,201444_6,201409_2

Does anybody know which Dahua camera with built microphone will work with Costco Qsee 8816 nvr.

Is Dahua IPC-HDW4300C or Dahua IPC-HDW4300E compatible with Qsee 8816 nvr?

The only camera listed on the Qsee website which they say is compatible is QCN8028D but that it does not have infrared.

I purchased the QC-8916 system with QCN-8033B cameras. Works well, but I now want to add a couple longer range cameras to watch the street. Anyone have experience with adding non QSee cameras? Any recommendation on a camera that can provide a varifocal, 150ft, day/night, motion, and SD onboard? I would appreciate a success story

according to some of the posts above you can add a Dahua camera.
