In another thread they were talking about new cams.... anything new since the 5231 with EPOE about 3 months ago? Btw: I poked around for a long time before asking this question.

Dahua recently released some new PTZ,

I see they announced 4 mp version with a 1/3" chip.

Would rather have the starlight chip with 2 mp

Yes, I'm on my Mac now and the links work fine. I've seen this once before where a link posted here simply failed on my iPhone. I'll try to keep this IP failure in mind.

So, amongst the new cams, what models are stand outs akin to the 5231 popularity for residential applications?

That UAV drone looks very nice but i fear the price will be quite high with a 30x PTZ in there and thermal capabilities etc.

Also the smart tracking with a 180 degree camera who steers the ptz to a direction where the action is looks very nice. Also expensive i fear. But might be cheaper for some solutions though, only one position where you need to bring wires to.

I think at the level we're talking it would be more like "High-end" residential.
But for me the coolest new "affordable" tech would be the thermal overlay with a 2MP Starlight visible sensor. They just introduced this model over the summer I believe:
