Dahua released next generation of 5xxx NVR - called EI2...

Main differences:
  • bigger decoding capabilities (40 vs 32 x 1080p@30fps with AI disabled, 32 vs 24 x 1080p@30fps with AI enabled),
  • 448 Mbps vs 384 Mpbs network bandwith, 200 Mbps in both cases with AI enabled on NVR,
  • 2x bigger AI by Recorder limits (4 vs 2 face detection/recognition, 8 vs 4 IVS, 16 vs 8 SMD),
  • added Video Meta Data by NVR (4 channels, with plate number / ANPR!!!!) and AcuPick by NVR (4 channels),
  • 8K HDMI and NVR Next GUI (released also for older 5xxx-EI as latest firmware upgrade).

In some way this new model is exactly all 608-XI Ultra Line features with half of 608-XI AI performance for a price 5xxx NVR!
And without 608-XI firmware problems (firmware stop for new features by Dahua)...

Welcome to Video Meta Data with ANPR done on NVR for lower/medium cams like TIOC-PRO or 5442.

The NVR5x-I I have (2020 release) does have a form of ANPR.
It's part of Video Structurization (later called Video Metadata). But sadly cannot have ANPR allow/blocklist and ANPR search through the ANPR window. All the feature of ANPR is covered under Video metadata.

So am I understanding the EI2 will do ANPR through VMD only and no real database or plate # search?

Less appealing if so

It may have changed for the new software versions.... this is my NVR5216-I running an update from 2022.

Plates can be searched through motor vehicle detection (Video metadata).

But it does not connect to the ANPR database.
DMSS notifications for ANPR blocklist event do not trigger.

Thanks.
So searchable plates is the upgrade for me. I think the EI2 will work for me. I don’t need notification or blocklist for controlled entry

You sure...? :D
I've found it handy to have blocklist notifications. For when previous offenders have travelled past again.
E.g. broken into cars or stolen items.

Yeahbut does the top of the line XI series even do that? Or do you have to have an ALPR capable cam?
A good question that I don't know at the moment since I've never used the allow/block. If I were in a less traveled area, maybe...

I've looked up past plates that were involved with crimes but the majority of them were from stolen vehicles. Steal the vehicle, use it in a crime, drop it off somewhere, rinse and repeat...
