New Dahua Tech / Cams coming soon - Wiz Colour?

The previous 4MP 1/1.8" uses OmniVision OS04A10
Now the new 4MP 1/1.8" uses SMARTSENS SC450AI

I recently bought the IPC-HFW2449S-S from a Chinese supplier. It has the WizSense feature, is an overseas version, and is upgradeable. It cost me around $70 USD each. so for the eyeball camera HDW2449, the price shall be similar. I am planning to buy some dome too.

I will get samples to play, don't expect too much on it.

I made some comparisons between the IPC-HDW2449T-S-PRO and IPC-HFW2449S-S-IL on Dahua's official site before making the purchase. One sensor is 1/1.8" CMOS, while the other is 1/2.9" CMOS. Other than that, they have almost the same features, such as WizSense. Additionally, the IPC-HFW2449S-S-IL is more cost-effective. More importantly, I needed a metal cover for added vandal resistance, while the cover of the IPC-HDW2449T-S-PRO is plastic. Maybe the IPC-HDW2449T-S-PRO is better in terms of overall performance, but for me, the IPC-HFW2449S is good enough.

As for 'good luck with the firmware upgrades,' I’m not sure what you meant. It actually took me some time (and cost due to fake overseas cameras) to find a supplier who provides real overseas version Dahua cameras. I've successfully tested upgrades on other Dahua overseas models. Regarding why I don’t buy from Andy, I have no issue with him as long as the products are cost-effective and genuine.

im going to test these cameras soon.

its all amount sensor size my guy.

do some more research. that cam is going to be terrible at anything low light.

Thank you for the explanation. I totally understand that. As I mentioned in my last post, my main concern is finding the right balance between cost and performance. Plus, they both come with the latest technology, including the WizSense feature. The IPC-HFW2449S has a metal housing, while the HDW2449T-S-PRO comes with a plastic housing
u really think a bat wouldn't take those both down in seconds?

cmon man.

i guess you were right... cost is low, and performance is low.

why did they decide to go with a lower end 1/1.8 sensor?

competition from HIK Vision.
HIK has been offering cameras with a 1/1.8" sensor for home use (ColorVu line) for several years.

Dahua had cameras for home (TIOC) only with 1/2.8" sensors, and 1/1.8" sensors were reserved for professional use (PRO 5xx2 line).

Now, the offer includes TIOC-PRO with a 1/1.8" sensor, which is the equivalent of ColorVu hybrid light.

You are looking at wrong line...
2449 is a very cheap line with almost no features...
Look at TIOC-PRO (3449H-AS-PV-PRO, Color4M in Andy Shop)...

So, what's the verdict on the 2449? I might be wanting a few new cameras, I stumbled across the IPC-HDW2449T-S-LED on ebay, price is pretty good.

My primary use would be in darkness with external IR flood LED. I have a IPC-HDW2431T-AS-S2 set up like that, so it would be useful to know the IR mode image quality of the 2449 compared to the 2431.

What do I look for in the model number for internal (accessible / removable) SD card for in-camera recording? My 2431 has it. Is it AS, or S2?

@steve1225 said this in this post:

please be aware that 2449-PRO is a very low-end line..
Plastic enclosure, weak SOC / processor (it can do only 20FPS for full resolution, for 30FPS You must crop image), some very basic AI (firmware is only 70MB so AI models are small)..

3449-PRO (Color4M in Andy shop) can be better.
Metal enclosure, much more powerful SOC, some crazy features not available on other models (like second stream in 720p or 1080p or all TIOC features :), speaker, nice set of LED's (IR, white, blue/red), 220MB firmware size - so AI models looks more like 5442..

Ok, thanks for that.

So what (eye-ball / turret camera) has better night / IR image quality than the HDW2431T but is not as expensive as the 3449? (my 2431 has multiple streams, metal shell, in-camera recording) don't need TIOC.

What country are you from?

the only 4/8 Mpx Dahua cams with proper image sensor size / resolution ratio (so good night image quality) are: 2449T-S-PRO, TIOC-PRO (3449H-AS-PV-PRO), 5442-S3 (all line), 5449 (Full Color), Color4K (5849), Color4K-180 (5849-180), 7442-X..

they differ with lens options (only 5442/7442 can be varifocal), aperture (5442/7442 have aperture F1.6/F1.8, all other cams have F1.0), video processing, AI features (5442-S3/7442-X kills here all other models)...

If You buy from official Dahua resellers (and without installer 50-60% off discount) then MSRP prices for TIOC-PRO or all line 5xxx are very high.. In my country MSRP for 5442-ZE is around 600$...

That we buy those cams from Dahua OEM EmpireTech | Security Protection | Security Cameras & NVRs, which have much better prices (a few times lower).

My HDW2431T is 1/3" and I think it has pretty good low-light ability.

I see HDW3449TM-AS-LED has 1/2.7" sensor - so maybe a little better, and price can be as low as $100 USD to $150?

Is there any 3449 that has SD-card for in-camera recording?

What is least expensive 1/1.8" Dahua turrent camera with SD card?

(I'm in Canada, but typically buy off ebay but I could buy from Empire)

Is your 2431 running default/auto settings that favor a bright static image but motion is a blur? I assure you that the 1/3" sensor isn't good low light ability and wait until you see a better sensor.

Almost every, if not all, Dahua cams have room for an SD card.
