Thanks Andy. Do I need to set as default settings after upgrade? If yes, can i import my settings or change the settings from scratch again?

I did not reset the default settings, just an upgrade, everything works normally.

I was lucky then, I have 1x HDBW4231F-AS + 2x HDBW4231E-ASE + 3x HDBW4231E-AS

I've just updated my cams, everything went OK but it does look like the night time image is now over exposed, sounds like a strange thing to say but it now looks over exposed? Tried a reset to default to see if that improves it. I did do the update with the cam in Night mode so will check what it looks like during the day. I've also not got the install plugin in IE, works without in Chrome, which I didn't get with the previous firmware?

I would always backup config settings and then do a update and reset it back to default and restore the configure settings

I did tried that approach too but for some reasons still live view stopped working. So i have to set it up everything from scratch again.

Also why do some of cams restart when clicking default and others don’t? As a precaution I manually restarted them before importing the settings but does seem strange especially as I purchased them all at the same time.

Isn’t the import/export really frustrating? It needs the same file name as when you exported else it won’t import.

I export mine and rename to it the camera I exported it from like config-porch.backup I am able to successfully import it back in after a reset.

Did you change the file extension name? (.backup)

That would be strange. I haven't yet experience a camera that didn't restart after resetting back to default.

Do firmware revisions number themselves sequentially?

A few days ago I got my first camera and am testing it now in a new BI PC I just got. The camera is an IPC-HDW5231R-ZE and its firmware is 2.800.0000008.0.R, Build Date: 2019-06-19. Would it then be 5 firmware updates behind?

I don’t think so, I think it went 8 to 10 to 13 if look at just that number. Those numbers may correspond to official releases so 9, 11 and 12 maybe internal numbers that never made it out?

It looks like the transition from night to day to night has sorted out the over blown night time problem I was having. Checked last night and this morning and everything is fine and as sharp as it was previously.

Still intrigued by 2 of my cams not auto restarting when set to default and why IE is now asking to install a plugin which it never did with the previous version.

You never followed up on your thinking it turned Video overexposed

Not too sure I understand what you mean but I think the problem I had might have been a result me doing the update whilst the cams where in night mode. Over the course of the next day and night transition they seemed to have sorted themselves out.
