Hello to all !!!
I am replacing my 2 camera analog GeoVision system due to it's age and the fact it died.
So I am new to ip technology and of course, struggling.
After much research, I have replace the two analog cameras with ip cameras, and replaced the coax with cat 6.
I decided on Blue Iris as my method of capture and record.
I installed the demo version of Blue Iris on a very anemic AMD based PC.
Mostly I wanted to find out if BI would "see" the cameras, and I wanted to look at the BI interface.
After two weeks of looking, testing, and wanting a more appropriate PC, I decided to buy BI.
BI seems to be doing what it should, considering the PC it is running on.

( I want to record at 1080p with two cameras 24/7, with ability to add several more cameras )
I followed the advice I read on this forum when selecting a PC that BI would be happy with.

Choosing Hardware for Blue Iris | IP Cam Talk ( very helpful info ... thanks! )

The recommendation was:
HP EliteDesk or Dell Optiplex, i5-6400, i5-6500, i5-6600, or i7-6700, search ebay for used.
I got outbid on a couple of PCs, and then took a different approach.
I started searching the new listings, instead of bidding.
When I saw a 1-hour old listing for a nice PC for $499.99, I jumped .... and got it.
It's specs are:
HP EliteDesk G2 SFF
i7-6700
24 Gb memory
128 Gb Samsung 850 Pro SSD
WDC Blue 1Tb HDD
Win10 Pro
WiFi card with external dual antennas
USB3 card with 2 external blue USB ports

I did a "Reset" on the WIn10 Pro, and it appears happy.
I will soon uninstall BI on the anemic AMD, and install it on the EliteDesk.

Any helpful hints will be appreciated.
I'm gonna have many questions soon .....

Thanks for having me, you have a strong forum!!
