Just want to say hello from south Louisiana. This place looks to have a wealth of info on what is new and how to make it better suited for your needs. I am in no rush but I do need to upgrade my security cameras/DVR. I also want to add a home automation to work in conjunction and back up to my hard wire alarm system.
The place is a second home which I will retire to in 3 years. Definitely I will be going with a NVR and POE cams. I will have to rewire everything but that should not be a problem. The home automation will be more at a slower pace since I have a much larger learning curve ahead on this. This will have a cell backup which I will tie my hardwired alarm to.
So in the beginning you won't hear a peek out of me. I will be absorbing as much knowledge as I can before making a decision.
