New IPC-B5442E-ZE with weird "draining" sound when I hold the camera

Hi all,
Forgive me if this has been addressed, as I tried both Google and the search tool here with no meaningful result. I just received the IPC-B5442E-ZE (Bullet Varifocal) from Amazon. The box arrived in good condition and the packaging was robust. I noticed as I opened the door on the bottom of the camera that I heard a draining sound as I handled the camera. When I say drain, it sounds like sand running through an hour-glass, or small pieces of something flowing inside the camera. Is this normal? I can't imagine it is, but I thought I would check here before powering up. My only thought of "normal" would be the weight of the lens is causing the motor mechanism to spin, but it doesn't sound like id expect for that to be the case

That is a bit much. Sounds like the packet may have burst.....you should open it up and check. I have never seen that happen though.

Thanks for the feedback, I thought it seemed excessive, but I don't have any current cameras to know what to expect.

I sent a note to @EMPIRETECANDY to check in with him. I don't want to open it up and void any sort of warranty or return opportunity. I haven't looked closely yet to see the process for opening this one up. I have fired it up, and it looks pretty good!

That’s definitely not right, the packets are normally wedged in place so maybe wedged too tight and as fenderman states may have burst open.

I just got the same camera recently, but direct from Andy.
Haven't done anything with it yet, but you sparked my interest to check mine.
I hear a faint sound that does sound like what you described, but it's very faint. Unless you hold the pigtails tight to the base when you rock it it's hard to hear.
I opened the access panel and there isn't a packet in there, so it must be inside the camera housing somewhere.
I have no experience with surveillance cameras but this model seems to have a beefy construction with a solid design. It's not some plastic low grade camera.
Good idea to check with Andy if you have concerns. Good luck!

They used to tape the desiccant packet in place, but I've also seen them loosely wedged in there. Carefully opening the camera and taping down the little plastic bag will definitely NOT affect your warranty status. Breaking the camera open with a sharp object definitely will. ;)

Ill have to figure out how/where to open the cam. I see no visible screws to do so. More to come
The front black portion of the cam has to be carefully pried off, that will reveal the screws.
But if you have the access door open and move it around and no little peebles fall out, you may be ok.
I've had cams where the packs were not fastened down in any form.
