My old switch crapped out on me last night just as I 'm heading out of town. I have 16 cameras (non-PTZ) and a PC running BI. I bought this Netgear 16-port GB switch at a local shop this morning and forgot that I needed an extra port for the BI PC . Would it be okay to just add a simple splitter to allow for the extra ethernet cable? Or, would you recommend this TP-Link 16-port 10/100MBps with uplink GB ports? Or something else?

Thanks! Two GB switches better than one standalone 100MB switch? And just to double-check (so I don't fry anything :p), it's okay to connect two powered switches?

Not necessarily better but cost is minimal and will suit your need.

Yes, if they are truly 802.3af/at compliant (and the TP-LINK and the Netgear are).
