Newb system help.

Hello,

I am new to this whole camera stuff and trying to install a front door surveillance.
The system will be placed in a hallway pointing to the front door. (Condo common area.)

I would like to record motion and voice (optional but a huge+)
Definitely need a 2.8mm lens.
Would like a better picture quality.
As far as range , all the action to be recorded would be between 3ft to 12ft.
Not concerned about recording at night.

(Will start off with 1 camera for now. Not sure if this camera supports sound recording)

Yeah, that NVR will work and so will the camera. However, and I might be the only one with this issue, but the quality is razor sharp up close but any that's more than 9 or 10 feet away is not sharp. For that reason, I won't be buying one again. Probably replace is with a turret.

DS-2CD2132F-IS if you want sound. DS-2CD2332-I turret won't be much better at that range... actually might be worse at night with over-exposure (might).

Also, if you only need one camera, this one doesn't need an NVR... just record to it's SD Card slot.

Good point about NVR.
The storage on it should be fine and if we need to pull anything from it it will be within last hours.
I will probably be adding at least 1 other camera to the setup soon though. However don't think I will need any more in the foreseeable future.

Well, I just ordered 2 DS-2CD2132F-IS cameras.
Should I be worried getting Chinese knockoffs?
Any way to find out what I get?
Also, does it make any difference what type of SD card I use? I was just going to get some cheap Microcenter 32GBs.

Unless you bought one from the shadiest of sellers, they will not be knockoffs but they might come in a regular brown box. I'd get a decent SD card though.

4mp US region cameras with better night vision, will be sold for the same price in about a week..this listing does not even indicate whether its US region or not.

Got the cameras in yesterday.
They are in retail boxes.
Bought me 2 Samsung MicroSD cards

However I cannot seem to get them working at all on the camera. (works in PC)
When I go to Advanced Configuration > Storage > Storage Management there is nothing under HDD device list.
Any other place I need to go?
