Night view issue

nm the 4:3 mode thing. doesn;t apply to 4mp.

perhaps try rebooting the cam (unplug/replug after making config change) if not already?
 
yah, those are just for the local view in the cam gui, tho. don't affect the stream on the wire.
try rebooting the cam after making your config changes to go sideways. see if that helps...
 
Adding a new instance of the cam isn't the same as deleting and re-adding the cam. Blue Iris reuses the original stream for the second instance.
 
That sucks. I'm stumped. Maybe try adding it as a different model of Hik or as ONVIF. If that doesn't work I'd email Ken and see if he has any advice. It might be a bug.
 
This may be different but I've had my 4mp cam not viewing correctly in BI when changing from 2mp to 4mp. I tried deleting and adding again using the export/import feature in BI to get my settings back but it still didn't show the correct live view (recorded looked ok). The only way I got the correct view was to delete and then manually add back all the settings. It was a pain in the butt but it worked. Again, what you are doing is different but you could try adding it back into BI manually and see if it helps.
 
Thats what I did. I added it and didn't import my settings. As soon as I added it thats how the view is
 
Nellys has an outdoor mini ptz camera with dome that's around $500 that's ip rated. I have an old model that's beat to shit on front of my house that has a decent picture
 
Eureka - I just switched the stream resolution from 1520 x 2688 to 1080 x1920 and camera is now working in BI4. So it looks like 4mp is not working correctly.
 
Yep but its at 2MP not 4 :) i updated my support ticket to ken with the info. Also will follow up with LTS

thats a great example of using corridor view.. good easy fix.. you can see quite a bit deeper into the darkness.
 
Now an external illuminator pointed 30-50 ft away would even the lighting and improve facial detail up close. It helps illuminate the far reaches and evens the lighting so that well lit closeup face shots (the money shots) aren't washed out from too much light. You'll be able to speed up your nightime max exposure speed a bit as well to help eliminate blur.

Will need to figure out how to get power to it, don't want to drill too many holes. I'm going to install another camera towards the front which will cover my hose reel and my garden.
