No record file found using Hik Connect p2p

Hi!

All recording works fine, local playback is fine. 8 IP cameras using a PC as storage server with IVMS 2.8.2.2, fixed IPS, no vlans, all on same subnet, 192.168.1.2 is the storage server PC.

Using android hik-connect 4.3.1.0404, viewing cameras works perfectly

The problem is playback. Hik-connect says there are no recording found. I added the cameras using local IP while connected throgh wifi and got the same result, no videos files found. All cameras can be seen / streamed perfectly via P2P in 4g and locally via wifi, but playback is the issue. The app seems to think the device is not recording.

Why cant hik-connect see the storage server? Is it because I am using a pc as a storage server instead of having an actual hikvision nvr?

Am i forced to configure port forwarding to the storgae server anyway if i want to use hik connect p2p?

P2P is a security risk.

The access to the recorded files is on the local cameras SD card on my hikvision cameras, the app should not be able to access your PC. That would be a major security risk.

Thanks! Indeed, p2p is insecure!

The cameras I got have no SD card slot, they are just IP cameras and need a storage server or NAS to save the footage.

How would I playback the video using the hikvision android app when outside of the local network? for example, using 4g remotely? what are my options? Im sorry to ask, I am not a camera professional, its a hobby and I just like securing my house and the family.

Thanks a lot!!

Hey there, I agree about the P2P, but if that is not your main concern, its up to you.

The HikConnect can only playback via the NVR (NAS Storage) therefore any other recording done outside the NVR is not available as you add the NVR to the cloud and there is no link to other external recordings.

I would suggest that you create a separate link to the recordings via a DDNS, obviously using some secured VPN.

Hope that this helps.
