Just recently had a chance to play with the new Norelco Safecam SC-DB313W, here is some info on it and my observations:

It came with extra faceplates and generally well packed with accessories. However some issues arose, here are some observations:
Unit is powered via doorbell transformer which was nice and supports multiple external chimes.
1. Did not have a method to connect to existing WiFi without using an app.
2. App was never mentioned in the manual on where to get it or what it’s name was.
3. Finally one of the QR codes contained within pointed to “guardingvision.com”
4. Required setup of an account using an app from “guardingvision.com”.
5. Once registered and configured using app, device appeared to work fine.
6. Unit is plastic but otherwise nicely made.
7. Unit is much wider than a standard doorbell so mounting requires work.
8. Mutiple angle mounts are included.
9. Once on wifi it could not be detected as an ONVIF device unfortunately.
10. No webpage or other obvious method of connecting.
11. Has Micro SD card support.
12. Manual is ok for installing, terrible for setup and app support.
13. Could not find a method to update firmware unless it’s buried in app.
14. No idea who makes it, does not appear to be a Hikvision unit.
15. No monthly fee but that app or cloud service could stop at anytime.
So unfortunately unless you are willing to trust some random app from “guardingvision’ that (on a Android) requests all kinds of access to your device, your trapped in their eco system and likely allowing China (or anyone else that has access) to your device. I’d strongly suggest VLANing this fellow off and put it on it’s own locked down Access Point.
Hopefully will do some full firewall testing in a few weeks and see just where it is going and who’s cloud service it connects to (and it it tries to go anywhere else).
