Novice Questions: Will My Ezviz H9C Camera Work Smoothly with HikVision NVR + PoE?

Before purchasing the Ezviz H9C 3K WiFi Camera, I want to clarify a few things to ensure all its features work seamlessly with my HikVision NVR and PoE setup.

I have a few specific questions regarding:

1. Video recording via hardwired connection to the NVR

2. Audio recording

3. Sirens, strobe lights and other smart features functioning on both the HikConnect app and NVR display

I’ll go through them one by one. Please feel free to keep your answers brief, just yes or no is fine.

For context:

I’m setting up my Ezviz H9C 3K WiFi camera with a HikVision AcuSense DS-7608NXI-K1 8-Channel NVR and a HikVision DS-3E0510P 8-Port PoE Switch.

I’ve researched the setup and have a clear idea of how to connect everything, but I need confirmation on a few points, especially whether all features will function properly in the HikConnect app and NVR display.

My Concerns:

1. Using PoE Switch for Data Connectivity:

• I would appreciate confirmation on this, Is it safe to connect the Cat 6 RJ45 cable from the camera to a PoE port on my switch, given that I don’t have an available uplink port?

• Also, will the PoE switch only provide data and not power to the camera when connected this way?

2. Video Recording to the NVR:

• We have a 2TB hard drive installed in the NVR. If the camera is connected to a PoE port and the PoE switch is then connected to the NVR, everything should be stored and recorded in the hard drive, correct?

• I’ve seen the setup process, but I couldn’t find any discussion or confirmation about whether using a PoE switch as an intermediary affects this in any way.

3. Audio Recording on NVR:

I’ve come across multiple reports in YouTube comments where people say that while video records fine, audio doesn’t work when the Ezviz H9C is connected to an NVR.

• Has Ezviz acknowledged this issue?
• Is this a known limitation or a setting that needs to be adjusted?
• Does this typically happen with WiFi cameras connected to an NVR, or is it specific to the H9C?

4. Getting H9C Camera Features to Work on HikConnect App and NVR Display:

I want to confirm whether the Ezviz H9C’s smart features, specifically AI detection, siren, strobe light, etc. will still be fully functional and controllable through the HikConnect app and NVR display once the camera is connected.

I’m sure pan and tilt will work, but:

• Will these features remain accessible through HikConnect and the NVR. Or will I need to use the Ezviz app to trigger functions like the siren and strobe light?

Would appreciate any expertise and insights, have a great day everyone.

Welcome.

It is best to match brand of camera and NVR to ensure full functionality. So things like siren and strobe may not work via NVR app even though EZviz is made by Hikvision.

Unless it is some offbrand POE switch, it should auto-negotiate whether it needs to provide power or not.

Suggest you delete your other thread as multiple posts of the same thread usually turns people off to helping and your post will be seen regardless of which thread it is put into:

Thank you for taking the time to share that. I went ahead with the EZVIZ camera, as long as I can live view and record on my NVR, that camera is really a no brainer for my outdoor needs.

I’m still looking into the audio bug others have mentioned. I’ve reached out to Hikvision and EZVIZ support about it but haven’t heard back yet.

The only minor drawback was needing a power outlet installed and managing two apps for monitoring and updates. Not a dealbreaker, but it would’ve been nice to have everything in one place.

Appreciate the advice, and my apologies for the duplicate post. I assumed forum worked more like subreddits, where people active in the Hikvision forum would only see my post.

Appreciate it again, hope you have a pleasant day.

Unless you bought from a Hikvision Authorized Installer, you probably won't hear back.

The homeowner isn't the Hikvision and Dahua target audience, it is the professional installers/dealers, so we cannot purchase directly and thus they will not take your phone call for support related questions - they will tell you to talk to the installer you purchased from.

Many people have bought a Hikvision or Dahua from Amazon or some shady foreign website and when they call Hikvision or Dahua for support they basically tell them to go pound salt.

We simply are not their intended market to sell to and they will not take your call for support...

Lot's of threads here confirming this, including one from a few months ago where someone tried to call for support and they told them sorry talk to your installer....

If you want a 1-800 number, you have to purchase the consumer line Annke or one of the others, but you will find that would be a wasted call as well as they just read from a script. We have many people come here after getting nowhere with a 1-800 number call to Annke or Amcrest or whichever consumer line they bought.

Have you considered a powerline adapter to run data over your electric lines - much more stable than wifi and opens it up to real POE cameras.
